JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) is a Japanese government-related organization that promotes mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. In response to booming demand for Japanese entertainment media in North America, JETRO has launched the Entertainment Platform of Japan (EPJ), an exciting initiative aimed at fostering ties between the Japanese and American entertainment industries.

“Show Biz Japan!” is a unique film screening created for Japanese independent filmmakers. The purpose of this event is to promote the meticulously selected works and the creators themselves to the U.S. film industry, distributors, and to the general audience. For that reason, we have selected the movies, not just for the quality of the films, but also graded its creativity and compatibility with the Hollywood market.
The first “Show Biz Japan! (2005)”, located at the Aero Theatre, publicized eight brilliant films. And with 420 seats available in the theatre, we have succeeded to have a full house of 550 people.
The “2nd Show Biz Japan! Sneak Peek” has collected 71 total applicants, not only from Los Angeles, but from Japan and New York as well. From drama, fantasy, horror to science fiction…they are all created by Japanese filmmakers for the English-speaking audience. With the edgy scenes and twists that are enjoyed by the American audience, it also contains a kind of sensitivity that only a Japanese artist can create.
Come join us on this adventure to discover the new form of entertainment!
